Standing outside the sun was shining as the minister spoke. The caskets holding Jeff and Kelly Wilson sat side by side. Daniel felt Cam’s shoulder pressed into his as if he was trying to prop himself up.
Cameron’s parents were sitting on Cam’s other side. Joey sat in between Cam’s parents and his mom was holding Tracy.
There were others surrounding them, co-workers of Jeff and Kelly’s as well as some neighbors and close family friends. Jeff’s mom’s health didn’t allow her to travel so she was not there. Jeff’s younger brother Tom was there. He was something of a black sheep in the family. He had left home as soon as he had turned eighteen. The family would hear from him on occasion. He apparently had been all over the world in the last fifteen years.
Daniel touched Cam’s arm when the graveside service had come to an end. Cam took a deep breath and stood. Daniel pressed his hand at the small of Cam’s back as he stood with him. “How’re you doing?” Daniel whispered.
“Hangin’ in there,” Cam said.

They were all in invited to the Mitchell house after the funeral. Wendy decided to set some tables and chairs up outside.
They walked into the kitchen following Cam’s mom. “Anything we can do, Mom?” Cameron asked.
“Would you mind taking Tracy, honey?” His Mom asked.
“Sure,” Cam took the baby from his mom. “Are you sure there’s nothing else?”
The kitchen door opened and Wendy’s best who had been neighbors of the Mitchells since Cam was about five stepped in. “Wendy, I’m here to help and I’m not taking no for an answer.”
“Thank you Sue,” Wendy smiled knowing better than to say no. “Where’s Jim?”
“Outside with Frank,” Sue turned to Cameron and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “It’s good to see you again, Daniel,” Daniel had met her and her husband when he visited with Cam during Christmas.
“Why don’t you two go outside and take Tracy. Her stroller is outside the door,” Wendy told Cam and Daniel.
The two men did as they were told. Cam put Tracy in her stroller and they went out to the table where Cam’s dad sat with Sue’s husband Jim and Joey.
A few people had arrived then. Jeff’s brother stood apart. Cam had only seen him once at Kelly and Jeff’s wedding. Tom was as aloof then as now.
Cameron decided to talk to Tom. He gave Daniel’s shoulder a pat telling them what he was doing before crossing the lawn to reach Tom.
When he reached Tom, Cam put out his hand. “Tom, we met at Kelly and Jeff’s wedding.”
“Oh, Kelly’s cousin?” Tom asked taking Cam’s offered hand and shaking.
“Cam,” he said. “Why don’t you join us,” Tom looked unsure. “Come on,” Cam encouraged and Tom nodded following Cam to the table.

The guests had all arrived. People were milling around chatting, holding their plates of food. Cameron realized he had lost track of Daniel. Come to think of it he hadn’t seen Joey for a while.
“Cameron,” he heard his mom’s voice from behind him. He turned around and saw her standing with a familiar looking man who looked to be in his fifties, but Cam couldn’t quite place him. “Cameron, this is Jeff and Kelly’s lawyer Ted Peters.”
“Mr. Peters,” Cam offered his hand and they shook. “I thought you looked familiar, we met once before over a year ago.”
“Ah yes, when Kelly learned she was pregnant with Tracy,” the man offered a sad smile.
“We were just discussing Tracy and Joey,” Wendy chimed in. “As you know they named your father and me or you as the children’s legal guardian if something,” she had to take a breath. “If something happened to them.”
“There’s no need to decide today,” Mr. Peters told them.
“We will get back to you on this as soon as we discuss this,” Cameron offered.
Mr. Peters nodded shaking Cam’s hand one more time before leaving the mother and son to talk.
“Have you seen Daniel?” Cameron asked.
“I think I saw him go into the house a few minutes ago,” his mom said. “Cameron?”
“Everything will work out, Mom,” he kissed her cheek before giving his dad a smile while grabbing Tracy in her stroller and rushing off to the house.

Cameron walked through the house hearing voices. He came to the family room and stood in the doorway leaning against the doorframe. He saw Daniel sitting on the floor leaning against the couch. He had removed his suit jacket and tie.
Sitting next to Daniel with Daniel’s arm wrapped around his shoulders was Joey. They were looking at a big book resting on Daniel’s raised knees.
“Daniel, are you sure it’s okay we’re in here?” Joey asked tilting his head back to look at Daniel.
“I don’t think anyone will mind,” Daniel said. “I understand wanting to get away from everyone else for awhile. Now where were we?”
“Giza?” Joey offered.
“Hey,” Cameron decided to let his presence be known.
“Cameron!” Joey jumped up and started talking a mile a minute about Egypt. At least that’s what Cam thought the boy was talking about.
“Whoa there pal,” Cam grinned wrapping his arms around Joey and pulling them both to the floor next to Daniel. “Might want to be a little quieter there, buddy, your sister’s sleeping right now.”
“Sorry,” Joey whispered.
Cam looked at Daniel and his book. “Where’d you get this?” It was a book with pictures from Egypt.
“I bought it yesterday,” Cameron wondered where Daniel had gone off to yesterday in the middle of their grocery shopping for Cam’s mom. It’s just pictures,” Daniel added when Cam smirked knowing how much it irked Daniel to see all the lies perpetuated in books about ancient Egypt.
Joey was now quietly looking at the pictures. Cam could feel the boy was getting tired as he sagged against him. “So, what do you think about buying a house?” Cameron asked looking at Daniel.
