Am I the only one who used to see Jack O'Neill as someone with more to him than just funny one liners and appreciated him for being more than funny one liners?
Yups. It's like he became a parody of himself. And from what I've seen, same thing happened to Vala.
I was reading a BSG review this morning and something in there made me realise the exact problem with Jack: there's a difference between a wise-crack and being funny.
I think for me with Vala I just accepted it and rolled with it because I didn't have as much emotionally invested in her as I did with Jack. She at least I thought brought a little life into the show when most of the cast seemed to be just wandering through their scenes for the last two seasons.
A few years ago a thread on GW was started for talking about Jack. I participated once only to find people only wanted to talk about his humor. That's part of what led to this entry in the first place.
