I don't know if you've ever seen Due South, but it was a show about a Canadian Mountie who ended up in Chicago partnering with a Chicago cop. In the pilot ep. the cop takes the mountie to his house for dinner. The cop is Italian-American and lives with his mom, sisters, his sister's husband and their kids. The dinner with that family is loud and crazy. I had that image in my head while writing this moment. They're not quite like that family on Due South but I wanted to capture the essence of it a little.
