Graceland Pilot

No, not Elvis Presley's home. USA Network previewed the pilot episode of their new show called Graceland On Demand today. I think it officially premieres in June.

It's a show about a group of federal agents from various agencies working together. They live in a house on the beach in Southern California.

It's from the creator of White Collar, Jeff Eastin.

It's bit darker or maybe just more dramatic would be a better term.

Mike Warren is the new guy who has just graduated from Quantico. He's green, but smart. His training agent is Paul Briggs. Briggs is something of a hero to Warren who had only read about Brigg's career. But when they meet Briggs doesn't quite live up to the image.

Briggs had taken leave a while back for mysterious reasons.

Their work is mostly undercover so there are a lot of aliases and stories about themselves they have to keep straight.

But from the pilot episode it looks like there will be a reocurring story. Mike is called by his boss at the end of the pilot where he is given the order to investigate (secretly) Paul Briggs.

There are four other characters whose names I haven't quite learned yet. But the house called Graceland is a haven for these agents. It's where they remove they leave behind the grit and dirt and misery of their undecover work. This was well shown when one of the characters returned to the house wearing dirty ripped clothes after leaving a house with a woman who was clearly wasted. The agent returning to the house is shown in a non titilating scene showering as if to show her washing off the filth of the environment she had just left.

Once gathered at Graceland there is a great comradery amongst the different agents.

It should be interesting to see where this investigation leads Mike Warren. I suspect he will find himself questioning those in higher positions.

While there was a moment during the episode that looked like Brigg's actions were question, I have a feeling or hope that what seems to be is not quite what is. And while he may very well have done what it looked like they work in an environment that can force people to work just out of the bounds at times.

I think I'm going to like this show. Hopefully the rest of the season can hold up to the same quality as the pilot.
