Thoughts on the Hale family we have seen so far on Teen Wolf
Teen Wolf is becoming a disappointment this season. I’ve waited three episodes for some interesting interaction between long lost sister Cora and Derek and got almost nothing. Where has she been all these years? What has she been doing and how did she survive the fire?
I’ve been wondering for a while now what Peter was like before the fire of the Hale home and family. The only thing I’ve gotten so far from Cora is she doesn’t seem to know what has been going on with Derek and Peter these last several years. She doesn’t know the killing spree Peter went on or that one of those people was her sister. I was curious to see how she would interact with Peter and give us an idea what he was like before.
One thing I’ve always thought interesting was the way Derek reacted to Peter after finding out he was the Alpha in season one. Yes, Derek first needed to stop Peter from possibly killing Stiles when he realized Peter was the Alpha which didn’t give him time to digest the revelation. In many stories where a family member is exposed to have done something terrible like murder, the rest of the family goes through denial. Either denying the family member committed the terrible act in the first place or maybe telling themselves they were manipulated by someone else. Eventually there is a sense of grief at the loss of the person they knew or thought they knew.
It’s like there is no real family connection between Peter and Derek or more to the point, never was one.
And I’m confused with Peter. Just before killing Kate Argent Peter really seemed to be upset over the death of his family, but then is niece turns up alive and he couldn’t care less. Of course he’s never expressed any kind of remorse for Laura’s death.
I’m not apposed to Derek having a girlfriend, but when the development of that relationship is taking priority over his interaction with his previously believed dead sister, there is a problem.
