The King of Scotland

Does anyone know anything about the movie the King of Scotland?

I don't understand what the title has to do with the movie as it is about Ugandan dictator Idi Amin.

I saw a trailer of it last week. There's a guy from Scotland who goes over to Uganda and ends up becoming aquainted with Amin.

I see. THanks that helps. I saw Forest Whittaker on Oprah recently, but they never really went into the details of the movie. I'm only recently hearing about the movie so I really don't have a clear understanding of it.

WHat prompted the question was my mom rents movies through Blockbuster which works like Netflix (renting movies through mail) and the movie holder had the right title, but gave a synopsis for THe King of Scotland. I was talking to my mom about this and we started talking about the movie KoS and wondering about the title.

Interesting. THanks for the info. I know nothing about Idi Amin. I vaguely recognized the name when the movie came out, but didn't recall anything beyond that.

Yeah I've heard it said watching FW in the movie was like watching a documentary instead of movie. I also heard someone recently say Amin was like the Saddam Hussein of his time.

It looks good, really interesting. I wouldn't necessarily trust it to be true to fact or unbiased, but entertainment wise, it looks fab.

I'm not sure it's my kind of movie, but the title certainly had me curious. And the name Idi Amin was familiar so it had me wondering.

IMDB says she plays Sarah Merrit... I don't know much about the true-life story, so I'm not sure if that's a fictional character, or based on a real person.
