-I see the new vision statement for Gateworld is going over so well. *snorts* Oh well, at least the two threads I frequent won't be affected.

-I hate cigarettes!

-I've been watching a TV show from 1998-2005 called Cold Squad. It's a Canadian series about police detectives that investigate cold homicide cases. A bit darker than what I usually watch but I like it. Although I'm starting to feel it being on Mon-Fri is a bit much.

Haha! ;) I give up.

Actually, I am a little worried about the McKay/Sheppard friendship thread. I'm afraid the mods are going to want to merge it with the McShep slash thread, since the Jack & Daniel Slash & Friendship Thread is just one thread. I've talked to Tame about it, but all she'll tell me is that it'll be handled with the Sheppard threads, and she'll make sure my concerns are communicated. :S

Oh dear, I hadn't thought of that. :S

Yeah, I hope I'm worrying for nothing, but they've made some pretty strange choices lately. I don't have anything against the McSheppers, but the discussion in that group is totally different than the friendship thread. And the Jack/Daniel thread doesn't have any "friendship" talk at all - it's all just about the slash. Oh well. I guess we cross that bridge when we come to it.

I do think it's kinda crazy though. I mean, going by what they're doing with the McKay anti-ship threads, what are they going to do? Put all the anti Shep/Teyla and anti Shep/Weir people into the same thread? Yeah, that'll work. [/sarcasm]

Yeah, I've found the Mcshep slash thread way too serious for my liking and felt to some degree a sense of anti a certain character.

That has bothered me too that the Jack/Daniel thread was made into slash and freindship because I do not slash them and with it being very much about slash as you said it has never interested me.

Oh Lord yes. Those two pairings can't get along while in their individual pro ship threads.

I think they're creating a bigger mess for themselves with this change. They really should have simply come down harder on those breaking the rules and not given the ones hovering near the line so much rope.

I agree, and if you mean Sheppard, I've sensed that a little myself. The slash thread seems to be more pro-McKay. And there's one particularly aggressive member of that thread that I try to avoid, although I think she's left the forum for the moment.

I know - me too. I would be interested in a friendship thread for the two of them, but I'm not interested in being the lone voice in the crowd.

Tell me about it. :( This is going to create a blowup of massive proportions. *sigh* And I feel like there's a little bit of bias going on since the anti-S10 thread has carried on business pretty much just as normal, with only a title change. But I suppose I shouldn't go down that road. *sigh*

I agree completely.

That is very true Mckay is really favored in Mcshep. Weir's been pretty largely favored over Sheppard too.

And if we're talking about the same agressive person in that thread she's not a fan of weir's in a big way and while that's fine in the right places I've felt it in the Mcshep thread a little in the past.

[identity profile] tringasolitaria.livejournal.com 2009-02-14 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I think we're probably talking about the same person. She's no great fan of Sheppard either, but oddly enough is very offended that the writers won't make John/Rodney canon. *shakes head*

Yeah, I've noticed that. *mind boggles*

They're retooling the anti-threads. As an example all anti-Mckay/character ship threads will have one thread to discuss people's problems with all ships relating to McKay. And each character will have the same even though there will be cross anti-shipping.

I just spend time in one off topic thread, fun and games section, the Daniel/Cam thread and some times the Sheppard, Mckay friendship thread. I just stay away from threads that have the hard-core fans.

Yep, that's what's going to happen. I agree, it's not a good idea. I don't personally have any interest in the anti-ship threads, but a lot of people are and they're not going to like having to read people's dislike for their favored ship in order to express their dislike for another ship. And really people want to rant in an anti-ship thread to their hearts content, but they're not going to be able to do that. They'll have to engage in rational "discussion" about why they dislike a particular ship and read why others don't like theirs.

LOL, that I actually can believe considering the people running the place want a happy place. I personally just want to spend time where I can enjoy what I liked about Stargate. I'm tired of complaining about it. It's over and I've moved on from being angry. But I sympathize with those who feel differently.
