Shipping

Not every show that has a male and female lead needs to ship those two characters because they're male and female.

I love you Elementary, but please don't ship Holmes and Watson.

Wait, what? As in Sherlock Holmes stories? Which one is female? I am confused here...lol...

BTW I SO TOTALLY agree on the idea that not every show needs a romantic pairing.

Elementary is a new CBS series on Thursday nights. It's a modern take on Sherlock Holmes. It's set in New York, Sherlock is British and Watson is American Joan Watson instead of John Watson. Lucy Liu plays Watson.

So far the show hasn't been shipping them and Lucy has said in an interview recently that the creator of the show doesn't plan to-at least not at this time. I'm just hoping it stays that way.

The thing that brought on this post was when Lucy was interviewed today on a talk show about Elementary, the only thing they asked about it was if her character and Holmes were going to get together. I'm so tired of ship being the main focus of interviews when actors are promoting their shows. As if that's all the show is about when the two leads are a male and female.

i felt that way about the show House. I felt that there was no need for romance between House and a female character but...

It probably will happen though. Eventually, they give in. It happened with The X-Files (Chris Carter originally said they would not get together), Bones, all kinds of shows...
