Last night's episode of NCIS was strange for me because Steven Culp who played Clayton Webb was in the episode, but he didn't play Webb. I've seen him in guest spots on other shows and haven't felt strange seeing him as other characters, but because NCIS is a spinoff from JAG, and therefore part of the JAG universe, it was odd to see him play a different character to Webb.

And I miss Webb. And I hated what they did to him on JAG.

YES!!! I was thinking exactly the same thing! It was an awesome episode otherwise - probably the best of the season so far (IMO at least). But that was really bugging me because I kept thinking - urm, that's Webb!

What are you referring to on JAG? I'm still working my way through the seasons. I've seen S1-3 and a lot of S9-10, but the middle is what I'm missing. I kinda have an idea what happened, but I'm getting the story filled in as the DVDs come out.

I can't really remember what happened when exactly, but at one point Webb started dating Mac and that really ruined the relationship between Rabb and Webb for me. Although the fact that they introduced a half brother of Harm's hurt it too. The half brother kinda replaced the relationship of between Webb and Rabb.

Then at the end of season 9? I believe they made it look like they killed Webb, but then he turned up alive having faked his death and when they found him that was the last time we saw him on the show. I quit watching shortly after that.

Over the years of that show I would often times stop watching only to come back eventually for a while. I quit about the beginning of the last season and didn't go back until the last fifteen minutes of the last episode.

OK. I knew that Webb and Mac started dating - I saw the season 9/10 end/beginning. It was a little strange because I had an idea in my head of Rabb and Webb's relationship from that (which was, really not much), and then I started watching the DVDs from the beginning and they have this totally different vibe! I was like, wow, where did this come from? It's hard to describe - maybe slightly like John and Rodney (only slightly), in how it's so obvious how Webb looks up to Rabb and is always putting himself in situations for Harm and Mac that he wouldn't otherwise, even while he claims to be this tough cynical CIA agent. I really started liking Webb. So that fell apart over Mac? :S That's too bad. I hadn't heard about the half-brother thing. Guess I haven't gotten that far yet.

I felt like TPTB forgot that there was this interesting dynamic between Clayton and Harm when they had Clayton and Mac dating.

Harm and Webb's relationship is very hard to define, but I have always thought it was interesting and loved seeing Webb on the show.

When Harm found out his father had crashed in Russia he found out his father had a son with another woman during this time. We meet the half brother at some point and he eventually came to the US.

Hmm. That's interesting. And a little sad, actually. I like the dynamic between Webb and Harm in the early seasons. "Hard to define" is right though. But I enjoyed it. Isn't Steven Culp going to be in "Miller's Crossing"?

Thanks for the info about the brother. I guess I'll see it sometime in the next couple of seasons here. :)

Is Miller's Crossing an SGA ep.? I'm trying to stay as spoiler free as possible so I don't know. I really like him though and whatever he's in I've enjoyed.

Ooops. :( Yes, it's #9 this season. But I won't say anymore - so sorry for the spoiler. :(

That's okay. You didn't give any plot info away. :) I don't mind knowing about an actor making a guest appearance. I just haven't been actively seeking out spoilers so I didn't have any details.

I've never watched JAG and I've only really seen one whole season of NCIS (season 4).
What does JAG stand for?

[identity profile] sg-lab.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
JAG stands for: Judge Advocate General. It's the group for the US Navy and Marines who are the attorney's. They represent criminal cases committed to or by military.
