I don't think it's suppose to imply a sexual relationship between two men. It's more about close male heterosexual friendships.
But it to me kinda makes fun of friendships between men in a way. There's such a fear or assumption about men being friends that it really means they're gay. Two heterosexual men can't be real friends without that fear from them or belief by others they're gay.
