The Past Week
May. 24th, 2010 06:01 pmMy sister arrived in town Tuesday night. It was late so we chatted for a short while before she was ready to go to bed.
On Wednesday she spent the day at my house with me and then left to see some friends.
I didn't see her until Friday night when my parents, sister and I went to a family friend's house to celebrate my Mom's and my birthdays. We have our birthdays the same month.
Saturday I went shopping with my sister. Bought some clothes with some Younkers gift cards. And then we ended up going to a handbag store where my sis bought me a new handbag. It's turned into tradition. She's been buying me a new handbag every year for the last couple of years. We also went to a store I just love. It's called Egyptian Treasures. It's full of knick knacks and jewelry having to do with ancient Egypt. I bought a papyrus held between two pieces of plexi glass and it has an image of the Ancient Egyptian god, Horus.
Later we had dinner with our parents at the same family friend's house.
Sunday my sister, dad and I went to see our grandmother. Not always easy. She is very hard of hearing making it very difficult to communicate with her and she has very poor eye sight.
Then we went out to dinner as it was officially my birthday. My sister left this morning to return to North Carolina.
So it's been a very busy last few days for me. And now it is very hot out. I'm already sick of the air conditioning.

I think I have finally got my internet issues fixed. I was without internet access all day yesterday.

Oct. 28th, 2007 02:29 pmI have these ceiling fans with lights that are controlled by remote control. So when I lose electricity and then it comes back all those remote controlled lights come on.
I was woken up at three this morning by my bedroom light. I was so sleep addled I didn't know what I was doing. I figured out the electricity had gone out at some time during the night because my alarm clock was flashing. I didn't know what time it was though and I didn't want to get up to look at my watch, but I needed to set the alarm for the morning.
At first I just set the clock so it wouldn't blink at me and then I tried turning off my bedside lamp, but that wasn't turning off the light in my room. (still sleep addled) I realized I had to get out of bed to turn that light off so I grabbed my watch since I was up.
I got back into bed and tried to figure out how to set my digital clock radio using a watch with hands. Digital is so much easier to understand at three in the morning. ;p
Happy Birthday,
luisa_f !
