Summary: Cameron becomes deathly ill. Can they figure out what’s wrong before it’s too late?

Daniel was getting a little too familiar with the halls of this hospital. He could find the coffee machine blind. Jack had dragged him down to get some coffee and now they were headed back to Cameron’s room.
It had been forty-eight hours since Dr. Lam had administered the antidote and they were just waiting to see. Cameron’s parents had returned to the apartment last night and would be back soon as well as the rest of the team.
Walking down the hall he saw medical personnel turn down the hall of Cameron’s room with a crash cart. The coffee in his hand slipped from Daniel’s fingers and he began to run. Turning the corner he lost sight of the medical personnel.
He stopped just outside Cameron’s room. He felt his knees begin to buckle and then a pair of hands grabbed him. He looked over his shoulder to see Jack behind him.
“I’ll be in the waiting room,” Jack patted Daniel’s shoulder before letting go.
Daniel leaned against the door frame for a moment. To his right he saw the medical personnel coming out of the room next to Cameron’s with the crash cart. He took a deep breath and entered Cameron’s room sitting next to the bed.
Cameron opened his eyes and smiled up at Daniel.
“Hey,” Cameron whispered.
“Hey,” Daniel smiled down at him.
Two Weeks Later
Cameron’s arm was wrapped around Daniel’s as they made the slow trek to their apartment door.
“You’re sure you’re okay?” Daniel asked.
“I’m fine,” Cameron rolled his eyes. He had just been released from the hospital. He was doing better and he knew he could make it to the apartment, but he was looking forward to getting to their bed. His parents had gone home the previous day and their friends would be coming over for dinner later.
The poison in his system was gone, but Cameron still had a long recovery ahead of him. Dr. Lam was not sure of what if any long term effects would crop up. They would just have to wait and see.
When they got to their room Cameron sat down on the edge of their bed and let Daniel lift his legs up on it. Daniel took off Cam’s shoes and pulled the blanket up to where Cameron could reach it.
Cameron grabbed hold of Daniel’s hand and tugged. Daniel sat down on the edge of the bed and leaned over Cameron kissing him. “Need anything?”
“You,” Cameron held onto Daniel’s hand.
Daniel took off his shoes and climbed over Cameron to get to the other side of the bed. He set the alarm clock so they would be awake before their friends arrived for dinner and took off his glasses. He then laid down pulling Cameron into his arms. Cameron rested his head on Daniel’s shoulders and closed his eyes.

Daniel woke up feeling something was off. He looked at the clock and noticed it was another ten minutes before the alarm went off. Looking toward the other side of the bed he felt his heart beat a little faster. “Cam!”
Daniel got out of bed and noticed light coming from under the bathroom door. He knocked. “Cam?”
“Yeah,” a tired voice responded on the other side of the door.
Daniel opened the door. Knowing his lover didn’t want pity or sympathy he kept his face neutral as he walked in and kneeled down next to Cam. “Need help?”
“I hate this,” Cameron brushed a hand through his hair and looked down at the floor. His pants were down just below his knees. His knees had buckled while he had been pulling his pants back up and he had slid to the floor.
“Come on, let’s get you off the cold floor. You don’t need a cold next,” Daniel grabbed Cameron’s arms and pulled him up. He let Cameron pull his pants up. “How about we go on a trip,” Daniel suggested.
“Where?” Cameron asked following Daniel back into their room.
“I don’t know,” Daniel shrugged.
“Just you and me?” Cameron asked.
“If that’s what you want,” Daniel wrapped his arms around Cameron.
“Maybe the team can join as after awhile,” Cam said.
“Sure,” Daniel kissed Cameron.
“I don’t know how you’ve put up with me,” Cameron said.
“You’re easy on the eyes,” Daniel grinned.
“Oh, I see, you just want me for my body,” Cameron pouted.
They kissed long and lingering. “Love you,” Daniel said against Cameron’s forehead.
“Love you too,” Cameron leaned in resting his head against Daniel’s shoulder.
There was a knock on their apartment door. They separated and walked out of the bedroom side by side to greet their friends.
