Daniel and Teal’c were in the back of a limousine with Sam, the twins and Cassie. The rest were in another car. They had just left the church service and were arriving at the cemetery.
Daniel and Teal’c got out of the vehicle and helped the girls out. Daniel took Sam’s hand and helped her out as she was unsteady. They walked to the graveside and sat down in the chairs designated for the family.
Cameron came up next to Daniel wrapping his hand around his lover’s as they settled behind Sam. Tracy and Joe stood beside on either side of them. Teal’c and Vala stood behind the twins and Cassie.
Sam’s brother and his family had come for the funeral and were sitting next to the twins. Jack’s parents were gone and he had no siblings but Sam had caught sight of his ex-wife Sarah when they arrived at the cemetery.
When the graveside service was over Sam stood up. “I’ll just be a minute,” she said.
Daniel opened his mouth to say something, but stopped himself when he saw who Sam was walking towards.
“Who’s that?” Cameron asked.
“Jack’s ex-wife,” Daniel whispered.
Cam’s mouth turned into an ‘O’.
They kept a surreptitious eye on Sam as she spoke with Sarah. It wasn’t long before Sam returned to them. “You know you two aren’t very good at pretending you’re not trying to spy.”
Daniel and Cam looked at each other startled both slightly reddening.
“It’s okay,” Sam gave them a smile. “Come on, let’s go.”
Cameron leaned over and gave Sam a kiss on the cheek. “We’ll see you at your house,” he said giving Daniel’s hand a quick squeeze before heading for the car with Joe, Tracy and Vala.
Christina and Emily got up and walked with their mother. Cassie wrapped one arm around Daniel’s and the other around Teal’c’s and they walked back to the car.

Sam’s house became crowded fast. Everyone helped Sam put out food and drinks.
Cameron walked over to the food and at it. There were some recognizable faces and not so recognizable faces to him. He looked around for Daniel but couldn’t find him. He saw Tracy standing with Joe and decided to check on them.
“How are you two doing?” Cam wrapped his arms around Tracy and Joe.
“Okay, I guess,” Tracy shrugged her shoulders.
“Either of you seen Daniel?” Cam asked.
“No,” Joe said. “I asked Aunt Sam and she said he’d probably show up soon.”
“I’m worried about him,” Tracy said.
Cam pressed a kiss to Tracy’s right temple and hugged Joe a little tighter. He had to admit, if only to himself, he was concerned too.
“Will you two be all right?” Cam asked.
Joe and Tracy nodded before Cam walked through the living room and into the kitchen. Christina and Emily were just about to leave the kitchen when Cam entered. Walking up to them he gave them a hug and a kiss on their foreheads. “Tracy’s out in the living room,” he told them. They nodded both biting their lower lips trying to hold back the tears. They left the kitchen and he found Sam fussing over some things on the counter.
“Hey,” Cam walked up to her wrapping an arm around her back. “How ya doing?”
“I’m just holding it together,” she gave him a weak smile. “I told the girls they could go lay down if they wanted to.”
“Getting a little crowded out there for you?” He sympathized.
She nodded. “I invited Sarah, Jack’s ex-wife, but she said she didn’t want to intrude,” there was a brief silence as neither knew what to say next.
Cameron helped put away some of the food.
“I’m guessing you’re wondering where Daniel is,” Sam said a few minutes later.
Cameron opened his mouth to say something, but Sam beat him to it. “It’s his way of dealing,” she said. “I suppose it sounds heartless of us not to seek him out, but we’ve learned it’s just his way,” the ‘we’ being Teal’c Jack and Sam.
“It seems there will always be something about him I’ll never know,” Cam said a little sadly.
Sam moved over and hugged Cam. “Just remember he loves you,” she said.
Cam hugged her back.

Cameron walked up the stairs to Sam’s hall bathroom. The door was closed causing him to grimace. He had just left Sam to speak to a couple guests who were about to leave. Formerly Major now Colonel; Paul Davis was getting ready to go home. The crowd was starting to thin out thankfully.
Turning from the door he was startled when it opened. Daniel came out looking tired and a little red in the eyes. “Hi,” Cam said feeling a little stupid. He was suddenly unsure what to say to this man with whom he had spent nearly the last twenty years.
“Hi,” Daniel said. “Sorry I went missing for awhile.”
“We were a little worried,” Cam admitted.
“How are they doing?” Daniel asked.
“They’re holding on,” Cam said. “Tracy went upstairs with Christina and Emily a little bit ago.” Cam had also noted Joe had gone outside alone for a little while. There were times if he didn’t know better he would swear Joe and Daniel were blood relatives.
Daniel leaned over and surprised Cam by wrapping his arms around him and holding Cameron. Cam wrapped his arms around Daniel’s neck. “Daniel, you know I love you, but I really need to use the bathroom.”
That managed to break the tension and Daniel smiled pulling back. “I’ll see you downstairs then.”
Cam gave him a quick kiss before heading into the bathroom.

The team, Cassie, Joe and Tracy were in the living room while Sam was at the door saying goodbye to her brother and his family.
“I suppose we should get going,” Daniel said.
Sam walked in and collapsed in one of the chairs. “Thank you for all of your help, guys,” she said.
Daniel and Cameron leaned over giving Sam a kiss on top of her head as they past by. Joe and Tracy hugged Sam. Teal’c and Vala were next. They said their goodnights to Cassie as well.
“Call if you need anything,” Cam told Sam before stepping out of the door.
Cameron climbed into the driver’s seat and Daniel climbed in next to them while the kids went into the back.

Entering the house they put away their coats. Tracy turned and surprised Daniel with a hug.
“Hey kiddo,” Daniel said to her gently.
“You disappeared on us,” she said.
“I know,” Daniel said. “I’m sorry. I’ll try not to do that again, okay?”
Tracy just nodded her head.
“I need to get some sleep, I have an early flight tomorrow morning,” Joe said.
“Do you have to go so soon?” Tracy complained.
“Yeah, sorry Trace,” he said.
“Tracy, take care of your cat,” Cam said. “Then we should all get some sleep.”
Later in bed Cam was surprised when Daniel tucked his head under Cam’s chin resting his head on Cam’s shoulder.
