Wow, I'm not particularly old - a child of the 80s - and I remember this stuff. I watched the Challenger on TV, the actual launch (there was only one station showing it, but my mother thought it was educational so my brother and I watched it).
Some of it's before my time, but I still was aware of it, at least after the fact (my college roommate got her name because of who shot J.R.). And some of it is because my family was always behind the times: we never had cable growing up even though all my friends did, we got our first CD player in 1998, and I wrote my first short stories on Mom's typewriter.
Okay, yeah, rambling, but I'm waiting for my lunch to cook and this is more interesting than standing in the kitchen staring at nothing. :D
