Really? I was really into Sentinel fic for a while (gen fic - yes, it does exist - LOL), but I don't think I've ever actually seen a full episode. I was somewhere once - can't remember where, and it was airing and so I saw the last part of one episode and the beginning of another. But that's it.
I guess S1 is out on DVD. It must not have sold too well though, because they never put the other three seasons out.
It's funny - I didn't find out until after my Sentinel fic phase that Jim and Blair are like the top slash couple of sci-fi! :) I still read a little bit of Sentinel fic now and then, but not a lot.
I discovered fanfic through the Sentinel and eventually slash. :0 Yeah, I can believe it is huge with slash fic.
One thing nice about the fandom was there weren't too many characters on the show so there was no character hate. Well there was that female character that came in late in the series that was not entirely welcomed within the fandom. Yeah, it's always the female characters that get the most hate in fandom.
I was going to go the Blockbuster site where I rent things by mail to see if they had The Sentinel. I can't believe it's not all on DVD. :(
The final season was only eight episodes because the network had cancelled it previous to the last season, but it was brought back by fan outcry. The season that it had been cancelled it left on a cliffhanger so they brought it back to wrap it up.
The network it was on was UPN and in my area UPN aired at 9pm on my local Fox affiliate, but just before the Sentinel's final season UPN disappeared from my area. It wasn't until my Mom got us digital cable (we just had analoge cable)which at the time had the Scifi channel and they started airing The Sentinelshortly after we got it. So I was finally able to watch end of the series.
