Summary: Daniel forgets his and Cam’s anniversary

Daniel stepped out of the shower and wiped himself dry before wrapping a towel around his waist. He entered his and Cam’s room and walked toward the dresser.
“Daniel, what are you doing up at this hour?”
Daniel was startled by Cam’s voice. He had hoped not to wake his lover thinking Cam deserved to sleep in on his day off. He turned around to face the other man.
“I’m going off world with SG-13, remember?”
“No,” Cam scowled at him. “You never told me that.”
“Oh,” Daniel looked contrite. “Sorry. I’ll be back this evening.”
“Whatever,” Cam dropped back down on his back pulling the covers over him up to his neck.
“Well, I am sorry,” Daniel sat down on the edge of the bed next to Cam once he was finished dressing. He leaned down to kiss Cam only to be rebuffed as Cam turned over with his back facing Daniel. “Fine, be in a huff,” he got up and left the room. He left the apartment soon after.

Daniel walked through the halls of the SGC until he got to Sam’s lab. As usual she was working away at something.
Sam looked up surprise across her face. “Daniel, what are you doing here today?”
“I’m going off world with SG-13,” Daniel frowned. “Didn’t I tell anyone?”
“Yeah, I just thought that was scheduled for Monday,” she said.
“Not unless they’ve changed the schedule since yesterday afternoon,” Daniel said.
“I just thought you’d be spending the day with Cam,” she said.
Daniel grimaced. “Well, we had a fight this morning; I doubt he’d want to spend the day with me anyway.”
“Ouch,” she said. “Not a good day for a fight.”
“When is?” He shrugged.
“True.”
“I should get going,” he said. “SG-13 should be waiting for me. I just wanted to say hi and I’ll see you later today.”
“All right,” she kissed him on the cheek.

Daniel was distracted as he walked to the gate room. There was something odd about that conversation with Sam.
“Daniel Jackson,” Daniel looked up startled when he heard Teal’c’s voice.
“Hey Teal’c, how’s it going?”
“All goes well my friend, but how is it going with you, Daniel Jackson?” The Jaffa asked.
“Um fine,” he said getting that feeling again.
“I was not aware you would be at the SGC today; I had thought you would be spending the day with Colonel Mitchell.”
“Yeah well I’ve got this mission with SG-13,” Daniel repeated.
“Daniel,” Vala appeared seemingly out of nowhere. “Why aren’t you curled up under the covers with Cameron right now? You didn’t leave him did you? Really Daniel,” she shook her head. “Well, I suppose I shall have to keep him company then.”
“Uh Teal’c, you wanna keep her occupied for me,” Daniel wrapped his hand around Vala’s forearm.
“Of course,” Teal’c bowed his head.
“Thanks, well gotta go,” he slipped past them and managed to get to the gateroom uninterrupted.

The day had been long, longer than Daniel had intended. Every time he looked at the markings on the ruins in front of him he became distracted. Something was bugging him. It niggled in the back of his mind trying to come forward. And just when he thought he had it, it would disappear.
“Is this gonna take much longer, my anniversary’s coming up soon and my wife would be real pissed if I missed it,” Col. Dixon said.
“When is your anniversary, Colonel?” The scientist next to Daniel asked.
“Next month,” Dixon replied.
Anniversary? Daniel’s head snapped up. “Shit.”
“What is it Dr. Jackson?” The other scientist asked.
Daniel shook his head realizing he was just asked a question. “Uh, I think we should just wrap this up. I haven’t been able to translate this. I think I need to do more research back at the SGC.”
“Let’s go,” Dixon yelled.

Daniel had rushed into the locker room and showered and dressed. He checked his watch as he left the SGC and grimaced. Ten-thirty.
Traffic was light at least. He entered his apartment to darkness. He reached over and turned on a light. He could smell the remnants of a meal.
Daniel gave himself a mental smack upside the head. Would he ever learn not to get so absorbed in his work he neglects his relationships? Letting out a sigh he knew he couldn’t just make it up to Cam with breakfast in bed and a good fucking.
Going through the apartment he went to their bedroom expecting Cam not to be there. He stopped and looked down at the bed seeing Cam asleep curled under the covers.
Daniel made quick work of getting ready for bed and crawled in next to Cam. Exhausted, he fell asleep fast.

Daniel woke up to the feeling of lips brushing against his jaw, trailing down to his neck and continuing further down. He opened his eyes and blinked.
“Good morning Sunshine,” Cam came back up kissing Daniel’s lips.
“Um, good morning,” Daniel felt confused. “You’re not mad?”
“Oh I was pissed last night,” Cam said looking down at Daniel. “I cooked you some amazing dishes.”
“Sorry,” Daniel winced.
“I knew when we got involved you get real focused on your work to the point of tunnel vision.”
“It’s no excuse,” Daniel said. “You’re not the first person I’ve done this to.”
Cam nodded and leaned over to the nightstand picking something up. Moving over to sit next to Daniel, he handed the item over.
The object looked like a timer. It had a digital display and under the digital display read the word ‘Anniversary’ in red letters. “What is it?” Daniel asked.
“It counts down the number of days, minutes and hours until our next anniversary,” Cam said. “You can clip it on your key chain.”
“So am I in the dog house still?”
“Depends,” Cam said.
“On what?” Daniel was feeling a little anxious.
“On what you do next weekend,” Daniel gave him a blank look. “Next Saturday is Valentine’s day. Remember?” Cam shook his head.
“We don’t usually do anything on Valentine’s day,” Daniel replied.
“Because our Anniversary is the week before,” Cam said.
“I knew I should have set our first date on Valentine’s day,” Daniel sighed.
Cam chuckled wrapping his arms around Daniel and snuggling close to him.
