“Colonel Mitchell, have you not had enough?” Teal’c was mostly beating the crap out of Cam.
“Okay, yeah,” Cam panted and dropped to the floor. Breathing hard he pulled his knees up and leaned on them.
“Is something troubling you, Colonel Mitchell?” Teal’c sat down on the floor across from him.
“What makes you say that, Teal’c?” Cam took a drink of water from his bottle.
“It has been sometime since we have engaged in such forceful sparring,” Teal’c replied.
Cameron gave Teal’c a self deprecating smile. “You got me there. All right, yeah there is, it’s Daniel.”
“You have developed feelings for Daniel Jackson,” the Jaffa guessed.
Cameron blew out a breath. “Am I that transparent?”
“Not everyone has noticed,” Teal’c said.
“Sam?” Cam asked.
“No, she was unaware until I informed her of my suspicions,” Teal’c said.
“What about the two of you?” Cameron turned the tables.
Teal’c would only give him that slight smile and a bow of the head.
“It’s been what over a year now since Vala died?” Cameron said swallowing the lump forming in his throat. It was painful for all of them still. Cameron felt worse about his feelings for Daniel because Vala was a part of their team. He knew Daniel had lost his wife Shar’e several years ago to the Goa’uld. He wasn’t sure if Daniel would ever want to take another chance again.
“Why do you not just speak with him?” Teal’c asked.
“Easier said than done, my friend,” Cam pulled himself up off the floor and left to take a shower.

Occasionally Cam and Landry would play a game of chess. The last few days Cam’s heart just wasn't in it and the General could tell. Cam did his best to hide it not wanting to talk to Landry about it. The whole don’t ask don’t tell issue seemed a bit moot at this point, but Cam wasn’t willing to get into it.
It was a week after his sparring match with Teal’c and he was staring at the chess board.
“Colonel, just tell the man,” Landry startled Cam out of his thoughts.
“Excuse me, Sir?” He looked up and frowned.
“Dr. Jackson,” the general said and stood up leaving a confused colonel.

Christmas arrived. Cameron entered the dining room. The general was the only one who hadn’t arrived yet. Sam startled him with a quick kiss and pointed at the top of the doorway where the mistletoe hung.
Cameron shook his head and smiled. Looking up he saw Daniel smiling at him. The sound of someone straightening their throat pulled him back to attention. He felt his cheeks warm wondering how long he was looking at Daniel.
Finally he moved forward allowing Landry room to enter. They moved to the table where it was festooned with Christmas decorations and the food was laid out for them to enjoy.

Cameron entered his quarters feeling stuffed and tired. It was a good day celebrating Christmas with the others.
Moving across his room he heard his door open. He looked back and saw Daniel walking in. “Daniel?”
“Hi,” Daniel said looking nervous, unsure. Cam couldn’t tell.
“Is everything all right?” Cameron crossed over to stand in front of Daniel.
“I’m not sure,” Daniel began and started pacing. “It’s been about a year and a half since Vala’s death.”
“I know,” Cam said, sympathy in his voice.
“It took me years before I could feel anything close to what I felt for Shar’e,” Daniel continued. “So how can I feel this now?”
“I don’t understand,” Cam said.
Cameron was taken by surprise as Daniel grabbed his shoulders pulling him to him and pressed his lips to Cam’s. Cameron’s initial reaction was to return the kiss full force. After several seconds though Cameron realized what he was doing and pushed them apart. “Daniel, I’m not sure this is such a good idea.”
“Cam, I know what I want. I just need to know you want the same,” Daniel seemed to be holding his breath waiting for Cameron’s answer.
Cam let out a deep breath. “Yes, but,” he cut Daniel off before he could say anything. “I hate to bring this up, but you loved Vala and you were going to have a child together. Are you really sure you’re ready for this? We’re going to be stuck on this boat for possibly a long time. What happens if things go bad between us?” Cameron stood in front of Daniel scared to death of screwing this up.
Daniel stepped closer resting one hand along the side of Cam’s face. The other hand against Cam’s neck he touched his forehead to Cam’s. “I want this,” he said. Tipping Cam’s head back he claimed Cam’s lips.
Cameron wrapped his arms around Daniel pulling them close together as they continued to kiss. It was several moments later when they needed to come up for air. “I think we should take this slow,” Cam said.
“All right,” Daniel said pressing another quick kiss to Cam’s lips before pulling away. “I’ll see you in the morning for our usual run?”
“Yeah,” Cam nodded and then watched Daniel walk out. Once the door was closed Cameron sighed, this was going to be a very long night.
