They spent most of the next morning in bed. They had both gotten a good night’s sleep for once and Cameron was feeling energetic. They made love again and dozed off until the doorbell startled them awake.
Their friends had arrived around lunch time so Daniel and Cam cooked up something for all of them to eat. Later they decided to spend a little time down at the beach.
Cameron sat down on a towel on the sand after going for a short walk with Teal’c and watched the others going in and out of the water. He was wearing a long sleeved t-shirt and khaki’s. His feet were the only thing bare. Teal’c sat next to him. Cam laughed as Vala tried to dunk Daniel only to have Sam come along and help.
“Hey, watch where you put those hands, Vala,” Cam yelled good naturedly. She still liked to flirt with Daniel, but there was a line she wouldn’t cross now that he was with Cameron.
“How have you been feeling, Colonel Mitchell?” Teal’c asked.
“Tired mostly,” Cam said.
The wind picked up and Cameron grabbed his sweater and pulled it on.
“Do you wish to go inside?” Teal’c asked.
“Nah, I’m fine,” Cam offered his friend a smile.
SB
Daniel walked over to where Cam was with Teal’c in the sand. He could see his lover was getting tired. He grabbed his towel and dried himself off before pulling on his sweatshirt. He could hear Sam and Vala behind him.
“Hey,” Daniel said sitting down next to Cam. “Ready to head in?”
“Yeah, I guess so,” Cam moved to get up but stalled.
“Need help?” Daniel placed his hand on Cam’s back.
“Yeah,” Cam sighed.
Daniel wrapped his arm around Cam’s back and helped him up. They followed their friends up to the house. Getting into the house Daniel stopped. “Where do you want to go?” He could feel Cameron beginning to collapse. He had obviously over done it today.
“Bed,” Cam’s voice slurred.
They made it into their bedroom before Daniel decided he was going to have to carry Cam the rest of the way. Getting Cam onto the bed he helped him out of his pants and shirt. He then put a pair of fresh sweats on Cam before pulling the covers over him.
“I’m going to make dinner. Are you going to be okay?” Daniel leaned down toward Cameron.
“Yeah,” was Cam’s sleepy reply.
Daniel kissed Cam on his right temple before going out to the kitchen.
SB
Daniel woke up the next morning before Cameron. He leaned over giving his lover a kiss on top of his head.
Cam began to stir and cracked open an eye.
“Do you want some breakfast?” Daniel asked.
“Maybe later,” Cam mumbled.
“Okay, but you should eat something. You missed dinner last night,” Daniel got up to shower first.
SB
The others were already up when Daniel came out to the living room. He could smell coffee brewing.
“Where is Cameron?” Vala asked.
“He’s still in bed,” Daniel said. “He over did it yesterday.”
“Breakfast?” Sam asked. “You’re not usually big on eating this early in the morning.”
“Cameron needs the food,” Daniel said. “And if I don’t eat, he doesn’t eat.”
“How is he doing, really?” Sam asked.
“He’s exhausted most of the time,” Daniel leaned over the kitchen counter and pulled off his glasses to rub his eyes. His friends each sat in a stool on the other side of the counter.
“I think he’s scared he’s never going to get back to what he was before all of this,” Daniel hesitated for a moment looking down at the counter.
“What is it?” Sam’s voice was gentle.
Daniel looked back up at them. “I visited him a few times while he was in the hospital a few years ago after his crash in Antarctica. I don’t know,” he shook his head. “It just feels like he’s lost some fight in him.”
SB
Daniel wiped off the counter having just finished breakfast. The others were in the living room where Sam was teaching Vala a card game.
Daniel walked down the hall towards his and Cam’s room. He heard the shower running in the bathroom and walked across the room. He knocked on the bathroom door once before opening it. “Shit,” Daniel ran into the shower and kneeled down to the floor.
Cameron lay crumbled on the shower floor. His head was bleeding. Daniel reached out with a shaking hand. He nearly passed out from relief when he felt Cam’s pulse and breathing.
“Someone, call an ambulance,” Daniel yelled.
