It had been almost a half an hour since Joe and Sharon left for Jack and Sam’s house. The two men were still amused at the look on Joe’s face as he walked out of the house. He looked like on a man on his way to his execution.

Daniel entered the living room and shook his head. For the last ten minutes the telephone had been attached to the side of Cam’s head. He had been put on hold for most of that time still working on getting the cable fixed.

Daniel sat down on the couch with a file and a couple of books. He could see Cam sit down next to him in the periphery of his sight.

“It’s amazing this company is still running,” Cam said still holding the phone.

“You’re going to have a permanent imprint of the phone on the side of your face,” Daniel said.

A few minutes later they felt the couch move when Tracy plopped down between them. “Is Cam really gonna have a permanent imprint of the telephone on his face?” She asked not quite pronouncing the words ‘permanent’ or ‘imprint’ right.

“No sweetie,” Daniel said. “I was just teasing Cam. Tracy, what are you doing?”

The nine year old was squirming around on the couch. “I itch,” she complained.

“I know,” Daniel said.

A few more minutes later and Cam got up off the couch and went into the kitchen. He wasn’t in there long when he came back out carrying a cell phone while still on the land line. He handed the cell phone to Daniel.

Daniel took it and looked at who was calling. He grimaced and answered. “Hi Jack. Yes of course we knew, we were the ones who raised the kid for the last eight years.”

“Can I talk to Uncle Jack?” Tracy sat up on the couch.

“Just a second, Jack. Tracy, Uncle Jack’s kinda grumpy right now. Why don’t you go upstairs and play.”

Tracy frowned, but went upstairs anyway.

“Jack, what are you planning on doing to our kid?” Daniel asked. “Yes, you’re grumpy. We felt it was Joe’s responsibility to tell everyone. You’re being nice to Sharon though right?” Daniel crossed his fingers. “Good,” he released a deep breath. “She’s a little shy at first around new people. I have a feeling we don’t have to worry too much. I’m pretty sure they’re considering on waiting at least until they’ve graduated. By then who knows.”

Cameron had returned to the living room sans the telephone attached to his face and sat down next to Daniel.

“Hi Sam,” Daniel grinned. “Tracy’s still miserable. Thank you. All right, talk to you later. Bye.”

“So?” Cam asked once Daniel put the phone down.

“Sam has everything under control,” Daniel said. “Still she did give Joe an earful.”

Cam rested back against the couch with a grin. “I gave up on waiting for someone from the cable company to talk to me,” Cam said. “I was on hold for the last twenty minutes.”

“Just promise me you won’t get an SG team together and storm the cable company’s headquarters,” Daniel said.

“Huh, it’s a thought,” Cam said.

“Come on,” Daniel stood up and pulled on Cam’s hand.

“Where are we going?” Cam asked. “We can’t do anything in the middle of the day and Tracy’s home sick.”

“We’re going upstairs to play with a very unhappy nine year old,” Daniel said. “And we will wear anything she wants us to wear. And we will drink lots and lots of fake tea with fake cookies. And we will do it all with a smile.”

“Ah,” Cam nodded following Daniel up the stairs.
