Daniel walked out of Sam’s kitchen with two cups of coffee in his hands. It was maybe three-thirty in the morning-Daniel wasn’t sure. Teal’c and the twins had gone to bed around one.
Around two or three in the morning Daniel wandered out to the living room to find Sam sitting up on the couch. He had considered leaving her until she startled him and said his name.
He had moved over to the couch and sat next to Sam. She immediately rested her head on his shoulder. With his arm wrapped around her shoulders they stayed like that for several minutes until Daniel asked her if she wanted any coffee.
Now having returned to his spot on the couch next to Sam, he handed her a cup.
“Seven years with SG-1 and he dies of a stroke,” Sam suddenly said. “A nuclear bomb, a replicator and god knows what else and you still keep coming back.”
“I’m sorry,” he said.
Sam startled Daniel hitting him on the chest. “Jerk,” she slumped back against him resting her head on his shoulder. “Promise me you’re going to live for a very long time.”
“Well, seeing as I don’t tend to run into nuclear bombs anymore in my work and you’re the only Sam Carter in existence now, I think I have a pretty good chance of sticking around for awhile.”
Sam smacked him on the chest again with less force this time.
They sat together in silence for a few minutes. “I miss him,” Sam said breaking the silence
“Me too,” Daniel said squeezing her far shoulder.
“As do I,” Teal’c’s deep voice startled them. He stood just inside the living room for a moment before moving over to the couch and sitting next to Sam’s other side.

“You did not,” Daniel grinned at Sam.
“I did,” she looked at him embarrassed. “The most embarrassing thing that has ever come out of my mouth,” she was telling them how her first meeting with Jack went.
The doorbell interrupted their reminiscing. “Oh, it’s after eight in the morning,” Sam looked out the window after checking the clock to see it was light out. Teal’c was the one to get up and answer the door.
A moment later, Cameron came in after Teal’c with Tracy. “look who followed us here,” Cam said looking over his shoulder.
Joe and Cassie entered together.
Daniel and Sam got up off the couch and greeted everyone. Joe and Cassie hugged Sam while Daniel hugged Tracy and Cam.
“How is Sharon doing?” Sam asked Joe.
“She’s ready for that baby to be born,” Joe smiled. “She sends her love. She’s staying with her parents until I get back.”
“How’s work?” Sam asked Cassie. The girl that Janet had raised after becoming an orphan when her people were killed and was a part of the extended family of SG-1 was working at R & D at Area 51.
“Busy,” she said. “And no, I’m not dating anyone right now.”
Sam smiled at the grown woman before her. She would always worry about her.
Two sleepy faces appeared in the living room then. Sam walked over and hugged her girls. They moved over to the couch as everyone found a place.
“Anyone had anything to eat?” Cameron asked.
There were a few hungry people, but not everyone. “I doubt you’ll find much in the kitchen,” Sam told Cam as he started towards there.
“I’m sure we can find something,” Cam said pulling on Daniel’s hand.
Daniel reluctantly followed his partner into the kitchen.
“Oh, I need to call the school,” Sam said.
“Already did,” Cam told her.
“Thank you,” Sam said.
“No problem,” Cam smiled.

Once they were in the kitchen Cam turned around and kissed Daniel. “Missed you last night,” he said when they parted.
“You too,” Daniel said wrapping his arms around Cam’s waist.
“You look tired,” Cam said.
“Sam, Teal’c and I stayed up all night talking about old times,” Daniel told him.
“How about we see if there’s anything we make to feed these guys,” Cam said.
By the time they were finished making the food Vala had arrived. They ate in the dining room. For a little while they talked about old times and new times forgetting the bad for a little while.

Date: 2009-06-25 01:26 am (UTC)I loved the way that Sam and Dan and Teal'c stayed up all night. And I'm glad to see Cassie here, too. :)
