White Collar, Fandom and Fanfic

I am somewhat of two minds at the moment when it comes to warnings on fics. On one hand I’m glad they’re there so I know if the fic has something in it that will squick me so I know to avoid it. On the other hand lately I see the warning and suddenly that thing that squicks me is stuck in my head anyway.
And never has any fandom had so many fics that has squicky elements to me than White Collar. The only romantic pairing I want in my White Collar fic is Peter/Elizabeth. I’ll even read NC-17 rated fic as long as it’s not really kinky. Personally I feel like the art of making a scene between two characters sexy without actual sex has been lost. Sometimes less really is more.
And speaking of things lost, the art of writing good friendships has been lost. The whole concept of friendships has been shoved out of the way for sex and or romance. That’s why I love White Collar. The show at its core is about the friendship between its two main characters Neal and Peter. But the White Collar fandom has so much more Peter/Neal slash or Peter/Elizabeth/Neal OT3. Don’t get me wrong I’ve written and read my fair share of slash/het and even some poly-amorous relationships in other fandoms, but not all pairs or poly-amorous relationships works for me. Sometimes I just want some good old fashion friendship.

I have a few fics on fanfiction.net that are wip that I'm reading. Most of the stuff on that site though is poorly written or wip that haven't been updated for quite some time.
