So I thought I'd finally make some comments on the White Collar episodes 2x04 By the Book and 2x05 Unfinished Business. I think I'll leave 2x06 In the Red from last night for another post.

It was a different episode with it being mainly about Mozzie. I'm not overly fond of Mozzie interacting with Peter too much. I prefer scenes that have Mozzie remain with Neal. But this wasn't too bad.

It was nice to Dianne Farr. Loved her on Numb3rs as Megan.

Mainly the thing I liked about this episode was that it was interesting to see Neal put in the position of worrying about his friend who goes off on a crazy stunt that could have gotten him killed. I can't wait to find out about how Mozzie and Neal met.

With Peter's comments first in the car and then in the last scene I wonder how much of that really sinks into to Neal's brain. That was my inspiration for my fic really. I wanted to explore what might be going on in his head at these times.

The last scene as Neal, Peter and Mozzie are walking together and Neal reveals he had Peter's pen. The argument that ensues as the scene fades out is cute.

I can't really decide what I feel about Sara Ellis. I refuse to call her a Mary Sue because frankly there are characters already on the show that border on the Mary Sue/Marty Stu. Plus as I said in a previous post, I'm sick of the term. It seems over used or miss-used too often.

I guess my biggest problem at this point is what is the point of her beyond this episode? Sure the flight tape is still at her house by the end of this episode which inevitably involves her in Neal's investigation into Kate's death, but at this point I'm not really interested in her as a character. I mean there's Mozzie for instance and he's helping Neal out with his investigation but beyond that I'm still interested in Mozzie and Neal's relationship with him.

I feel like at this point Sara needs more of a purpose that will give me a reason to be interested in her. At this point-at best-I'm just kind of indifferent to her. At worse I feel like she's an interloper taking time away from other characters I prefer. Not that I think she's going to be appearing on the episodes as much as she did in her first (I know she doesn't appear as much in this week's episode but that's for another post) episode but that they just gotta give me a little more to care about.

And Sara wasn't all bad, there were moments I liked with her. I'm actually not all that bothered by her attitude towards Neal. She's coming from a different place than Peter or even us as the audience who have seen many more points of view of him.

In other parts of the episodes, you know to be honest I am really not all that interested to know about why Neal's so knowledgable about guns. For some reason I'm just not all that interested. And as far as his dislike of guns go, I would prefer it not be some big tragic/traumatic experience he had. There's a line in a White Collar fic I read not too long ago where when Neal is asked why he doesn't like guns his answer is something along the lines of "People ask me that as if it's some sort of abberation". I know his dislike of guns gets pointed out many times in the show but the truth is a lot of people just don't like guns and yet never had a bad personal experience with them.

I don't know if Neal should be worried about or annoyed at Mozzie because in this episode Mozzie seemed to be drinking an awful lot of wine and all of it was Neal's wine. I was amused only because I was reminded from the Comic Con video of the WC cast, Willie Garson was joking about how much grape juice he had to drink as wine.

Lastly John Pyper Fergusen was the bad guy in the episode. I've liked him as a character actor since he had a reocurring part on Brisco County Jr. Can't recall his character's name from Brico County Jr.
