It seems the anti (insert character of choice here) threads are growing on GW.

First there was the anti-weir thread a few days ago and the weir fans immediately descended upon it. Personally if people want to complain about a character they don't like I say go for it. As long as they don't go into threads to complain about her that are for pro sentiments only.

Today it was the anti-Sheppard thread. Although this one doesn't have people who out right hate the character and simply want him gone. It's Sheppard fans unhappy with how he's been written in s2. Personally calling it the anti-Sheppard thread is rather harsh since it's not exactly anti-Sheppard completely.

Now we have the anti-Mckay and Weir thread. I guess someone wasn't looking when creating this one. I don't see this thread going anywhere; people love Mckay.

I'm finding all rather amusing. The anti-Weir thread is most amusing because people are treating her like a real person. As if they replace her they'll get someone better. It's like they don't realize there are other people writing this character and it wouldn't matter if they got rid of the character. We would still have the same writers.

The Stargate writers write their characters to suit the plot for a given ep. They don't let the characters tell the story the way J Michael Strazynski did when he wrote Babylon 5 eps.

I'm amused by it all, too. I'm about ready to start making jokes any time new characters pop up. "Oooh! Who wants to start the anti thread this time??"

Fandom is a peculiar thing, that's for sure. I've found myself nearly sucked into the craziness. I'd see what I thought was a really lame complaint and get annoyed by it. Then I'd step back for a while and think "why was I getting all bothered by this?"

Exactly. I've recently made the decision to stop getting involved in fandom wank. It's made my life so much more stess-free!

I got involved with this fandom because I wanted to chat about things I liked about the shows. It was quite shocking to see the sniping and complaining that goes on in fandom.

Although I confess to having bit of what I call a rubber necking mentality. I can't help reading some of the craziness at times.

Well, in less than a day and a half I can sit back and enjoy the new eps. and maybe fandom will calm down for a bit. ;)

Speaking of the new eps. I'm a little annoyed Scifi isn't repeating the season finales of either stargate shows from last season before airing the new eps. I tape the shows for my mom and her friend and they like to see the season finales again before seeing the new eps.

Yeah, I follow the madness, but I've pretty much stopped participating in it. :P

I'm surprised they're not hyping the new season more. I wish we got more specials like we got last year!
