I got the book SGA Casualties of War yesterday in the mail. I already started reading it. :)
The day before yesterday got my sister to watch A Dog’s Breakfast with me. She thought it was interesting. :D
My sister is leaving Saturday. :( And of course Monday the weather will improve. It’s been freezing and we’ve had a ridiculous amount of snow. She took a picture of a snow drift yesterday. I think she wants to show the picture to her friends in North Carolina to show them what real snow is like. The tiniest amount of snow falls there and everything shuts down.
On to SGA Quarantine. I read on someone’s LJ a few months ago that they thought the parts of s4 are better than the sum of its parts. I think that’s a very fitting description of the season so far and the individual episodes. And I’d say that is very true of this episode.
I loved the first scene. Which leads me to the interaction between Rodney and Katie. On the commentary for Sunday, Martin Gero said he went up to DH and the actress who plays Katie telling them their characters had already had sex. Apparently he didn’t feel they were communicating that when he was watching them. Unfortunately Gero telling them they’ve had sex didn’t work because I’m not convinced they did.
Actually what I’m not convinced of is any sense of intimacy between these two characters. And whether they’ve had sex or not (although I would think it would be realistic for them to have had sex) there should be some sense of intimacy between them. They’re like strangers to each other. And I do think they kinda realized that at the end.
I mean Rodney had more intimacy with John in the opening scene than any amount of interaction between him and Katie. And of course John not only knows Rodney’s password, but he knows Rodney was undoubtedly freaking out.
I could name at least six people Rodney has shown more intimacy with than Katie Brown.
Most of the pairings in this episode fell flat for me. Ronon/Keller was just boring most of them time. And when it wasn’t boring it was cringe worthy.
Zelenka/Carter was another cringingly bad one. And what really bugged me was when they were with Sheppard and Lorne. It was when Radek was in the vents and Carter was the one to tell these guys who have known Radek longer than her that Radek would succeed. Shows always have the new guy or girl telling the oldtimers everything will work out when the oldtimers should have more faith in the people they’ve known longer. It’s rather manipulative in trying to get us to like the newbie.
Oh and last I liked the interaction between John and Teyla. I’m doing my best to get over my knee jerk reaction to them interacting. Always thinking “Oh no, ship.” I want to enjoy their interactions. Although I’m feeling like this is the third episode they’ve had a similar conversation. I’m not sure they know what they want for this relationship.

Date: 2008-01-23 07:03 pm (UTC)...That sentance is almost enough to convince me into really believing in John/Rodney. Heehee.
I agree with pretty much all your points.
I didn't really care for the Ronon/Keller stuff but I did really like Ronon this episode :) He is probably my most consistently favourite at the moment. Hasn't really had any really rubbish moments like the others.
OMG John/Teyla...I liked the episode where John found out about the baby but sinse then it has been so frakking cliche! The whole baby kicking and Teyla all like 'oooo feel the baby' and John all 'omg totally in awe' *headdesk*
Teyla hadn't annoyed me in a while...she's been out gunned by Carter...but she has started to take the lead again.
These writers/producers are too immature to handle a pregancy storyline with the level of emotion and truth that it needs. I knew they wouldn't be able too.
Okay I'm just gonna stop ranting, because there was one part that totally made be squee:
SHEPPARD/LORNE/CHUCK!!! OT3 (we'll just ignore the random tech girl who lingered about as well.
But yay! Chuck! Actually getting out of the gateroom and getting more than 1 line of dialogue.
I came online straight after looking for Lorne/Chuck fic after deciding, based on those few minutes where they shared a scene, that they must be shipped...There is no existing fic though :(
This is what I am resorting to. Forgetting the plots and useless writing and just concentrating my energy on absorbing the pretty.

It's pretty much what keeps me watching right now. :D

LOL. And ahh, Lorne is becoming so shippable. Heh.

He really really is. He is so pretty. That's what it is. I just see him interact with someone and I totally start shipping them. Not really into Shep/Lorne though. They don't match up, but Chuck/Lorne is so adorably random and cute that it would sooo really work.
...And then there is Lorne/Rodney. I would have loved it if they had got stuck in a room together. Funniest thing ever...Ooo I want to write fic now *headdesk*

Date: 2008-01-24 01:19 am (UTC)It's true, it very very true :)
And I gotta say I like the progression of Season 4 (and the fact that they're doing callbacks to previous events and one-offs moreso than any other season) I look forward to seeing where they lead us for the rest of the season and especially for The Last Man.
