Chapter 7
Evan shut the door to his and Rodney’s quarters and leaned back against it. They had just had their friends over for a little apartment warming party. They had moved in just over a week earlier.
The last of the guests had just left. Evan looked around for Rodney, but didn’t see him immediately. He walked across the living room to where he saw the balcony door opened. It was nice having their bedroom separate from the living room.
Stepping out onto the balcony, Evan found Rodney leaning on the railing as he looked out at the ocean.
“Hey,” Evan came up behind Rodney wrapping his arms around his lover’s waist. Rodney moved back against Evan’s chest. “You got a little quiet there. Your friends I were a little worried when you disappeared.”
“They’re your friends too,” Rodney’s defensive tone took Evan by surprise.
“It’s not the same,” Evan said. “It’s okay. I have friends.”
“John asked me if I was ready to return with the team on off world missions.”
“Yeah, he told me just before he left. How do you feel about it?” Evan’s hold on Rodney tightened just a little. His own personal struggle was going on inside.
“I think I need a little more time to deal with the memories about Kolya. Not all my memories about it are back. I’ll tell him Monday. Until then, how about we enjoy our new place,” Rodney turned in Evan’s arms and kissed him.
“What do you have in mind?” Evan asked.
“Let’s go to the bedroom and I’ll show you,” Rodney pulled back to take Evan’s hand, but Evan didn’t move when he was tugged forward. “What?” Rodney looked back at him.
“I thought it was your fantasy to have sex out here on the balcony,” Evan grinned.
Rodney frowned and then a look of understanding hit his faced. “Oh. Yeah, well, I decided my back probably wouldn’t appreciate it.”
Evan laughed. “That’s a relief,” at Rodney’s raised eyebrow Evan continued. “I don’t think my back would appreciate it either.”
Rodney stopped short. “You realize we sound like a couple of old men, right?”
“I won’t tell, if you won’t tell,” Evan grinned.
“Deal, let’s go to bed,” Rodney grabbed Evan’s hand and this time the Major followed.
