Babylon 5?

I am just one ep. away from finishing Babylon 5.
I just saw the ep. Objects at Rest and I was a little teary eyed as John and Delenne left Babylon 5.
Has anyone read any of the B5 novels? I've only just realized they exist and fill in a lot of the things left from the show. I've always had so many questions after the show ended.
What brought G'kar back to Centauri Prime which led to the fullfilliment of Londo's dream that G'Kar would kill him?
What happened to Lyta?
In the ep. Sleeping in light, there's a scene that I've always recalled. Stephen was visiting Michael and they were talking about the invitation from John for all of them gather. Stephen mentions something about Michael and John having some conflict between them, but it never gets more specific than that. What's the conflict Stephen is referring to?
Are any of these questions answered in these books I've heard about?
It's been so long since I watched this series there were a lot of things I forgot. I was thinking the ep. where Michael leaves B5 was the last ep. I remember certain scenes, but I forgot where they were in the scheme of the show.
On another topic, I've been reading Wicked and I must confess it's just not my cup of tea. I have it for a few more days before it's due back at the library. I'll keep reading until then and see if I like it any better.

Date: 2006-07-20 09:27 pm (UTC)Oh yes. I've read several of them. Probably my favorites would be the Centauri trilogy and To Dream in the City of Sorrows - the book that details Sinclairs life on Minbar before he goes through the time rift with Babylon 4.

That is a question that is answered in the Centauri trilogy, the third book if I remember correctly. I haven't read these books in a while. The Centauri trilogy covers Londo's life from becoming Emperor up to the immediate aftermath of his death. Vir figures in quite alot, along with several other characters, including Sheridan, Delenn, their son(mostly in the third book), two of Londo's wives - Timov and Mariel, and a whole host of others.
As for the conflict between Sheridan and Garabaldi, as far as I can recall, that's not something that was ever explained. I myself have always been curious about it, though. What were the boys going on about now?

Maybe John didn't approve of Michael's actions. Michael was definitely getting involved in some dark things at the end of the series. It's my best guess since their relationship was just fine when Michael left B5.
You know what's really funny? I completely forgot John and Delenn had a child. I was checking out the B5 fanfic before I started watching the show again and one or two of the fic commented on their son David. I had only seen the series one time through so I guess I was bound to forget something. Although that's a big something to forget. :D
I'll definitely have go check out these books.

He was never seen, just mentioned in the final few episodes, as well as in the time-travel episode when the future Delenn told Sheridan that their son was safe. There are further mentions of him in some of the books, and he even plays a part in a few of them - the novelization of In the Beginning, the Centauri trilogy, maybe one or two others. I can't quite recall any others at the moment.

Date: 2006-07-21 03:13 am (UTC)I think I may read To Kill a Mockingbird again. It has its sad moments, but it's a very uplifting story in many ways and I just love all the characters. That was another thing about Wicked. I just couldn't like any of the characters.
To Kill a Mockingbird has some not very nice characters, but they're so full and interesting that I can't help but like them. And it has some really good and honorable characters to balance things out.

Date: 2006-07-21 03:39 am (UTC)To Kill a Mockingbird is such a great story. The characters are so rich and interesting. When I was in Middle School I was in a class where we were in two groups. Each group had a book to read and then we were to switch the book between groups eventually. Mockingbird was read in the other group I wasn't in and the semester ran out before my group could read it. I read it that following summer after my mom gave me a copy of it for my birthday. I still have the same copy fifteen years later. It's the only novel I've ever read more than once.
