Heh, I thought you would be the only one on my flist who would feel old reading this. :D

I have a strange memory of when the Challenger blew up. I can remember coming home from school knowing about it, but I don't really remember being told about it at school. Then when I came home the TV was on and my dad was watching about it.

I remember sitting in the living room as my parents were watching a show talking about AIDS when very little was known at the time. It kind of grew from a little known thing to eventually this huge issue through out my life.

I learned to type on an electric typewriter and the next year my school went to computers for typing class. I used to play on my mom's manual typewriter as a kid.

I took a computer class in middle school so I was about thirteen fourteen years old. And I can totally get Rodney's joke about DOS in the s3 premiere.

You kids and your disrespect for adults. :D

Well, I think you and I are the same age so I'm feeling old right along with you. ;)

Oh yeah I know what you mean about seeing things reach their twentieth anniversary making you feel old.

Wow, I'm not particularly old - a child of the 80s - and I remember this stuff. I watched the Challenger on TV, the actual launch (there was only one station showing it, but my mother thought it was educational so my brother and I watched it).

Some of it's before my time, but I still was aware of it, at least after the fact (my college roommate got her name because of who shot J.R.). And some of it is because my family was always behind the times: we never had cable growing up even though all my friends did, we got our first CD player in 1998, and I wrote my first short stories on Mom's typewriter.

Okay, yeah, rambling, but I'm waiting for my lunch to cook and this is more interesting than standing in the kitchen staring at nothing. :D

My Mom used to watch Dallas and so I sort of saw it because I was around, but I have no idea who shot JR and if I was told the name it wouldn't mean a thing to me.

It's interesting to see who remembers certain things and what they did or didn't have.

I'm old enough to remember many of those days. Wow, you were born the year the Challenger blew up. I remember coming home from school the day of the Challenger explosion. I was ten when it happened. You make me feel old. ;D
